Care4all’s 2016 Shoebox Appeal was a great success with over 100 shoebox’s being delivered over the Christmas period. The Care4all’s Meals on Wheels service went the extra mile this year by providing a surprise gift to all those vulnerable people who were alone at Christmas. Each shoebox was filled with small gifts, including items such as shampoo, shower gel, hand cream, gloves, scarfs, confectionary, biscuits, small bottles of alcohol, games, puzzle books, playing cards and a Christmas card.
For those people who spend Christmas alone, the sight of a friendly face delivering a festive meal and a wonderful surprise gift can really make the world of difference. This was Care4all’s aim for all of our Meals on Wheels customers and it was heart-warming to see both the overwhelming response from the public to our Shoebox appeal and the pleasure it brought to so many of our customers. Care4all would like to say thank you to everybody who donated to our appeal and a special thank you to the retailers Next and Boyes for their donations.
Lindsay Blow, Meals on Wheels Supervisor, said “For most of us, Christmas is a time when we look forward to spending time with loved ones. However, it is sad to think that not everyone is fortunate enough to have people to share this special time with. We made a real difference to our customers this Christmas and so on behalf of everyone involved I would like to say a huge thank you!”
Due to the success of our Shoebox appeal we are now hoping to supply birthday gifts to those who live alone; if you would like to donate any gifts, please contact Lindsay on the details below.
